Love the Lorry Week
There are 285,000 HGV drivers in the UK and they travel an average 125,000 miles a year, which is around 2,500 miles a week. Around 85% of goods consumed in the country are moved by UK-registered HGV’s and road freight contributes £22.9bn a year to the economy. But truck drivers are still undervalued and SNAP want to recognise the endeavours of the HGV industry in their ’Love the Lorry Week.’
Love the Lorry Week is set to begin on Monday 16th September and SNAP are teaming up with the RHA to put on a series of events which will celebrate the unrelenting efforts of truck drivers, fleet operators and anyone else within the sector.
SNAP will be meeting drivers at two popular Truck Parking locations, hosting a daily capture the flag competition, recording a short film - depicting a day in the life of an HGV driver and supporting transport charities.
During the Meet the Driver’s events at RoadKing, Holyhead
and Red Lion Truck Stop
, SNAP will be providing food and drinks for the first 50 drivers present during each evening. The popular ’SNAP-Shot’ game will be making an appearance, with prizes awarded to the highest scorers, whilst exclusive SNAP and RHA merchandise will be given out for free.
Each day during the week, a SNAP branded flag will be hidden at a secret SNAP Truck Park, somewhere in the UK in the Capture the Flag competition. Clues will be revealed on social media to the whereabouts of the flags and the daily winner will be awarded a prize. A SNAP employee will also be sitting alongside a driver and recording a day in the life video blog which will be shared through the SNAP social media channels.
"We are very excited to give something back to the haulage industry and to celebrate the sometimes-unnoticed commitment that HGV drivers show to make our lives that much easier. We hope that the events we have planned will be well received and that drivers will be able to enjoy themselves during the week." Mark Garner, Managing Director, SNAP.
