On March 25th, drivers were parked up, engines off, and cab lights glowing for the inaugural Haul of Fame Awards. The awards were launched by SNAP to shine a spotlight on the drivers, sites, and services that make European haulage what it is.

With a staggering 2,402 votes and nominations submitted from across Europe, one thing was clear: Recognition in haulage matters because this industry doesn’t stop. Not for weather. Not for weekends. Not for borders.

From categories ranging from Best Large Truck Stop to Unsung Hero, the awards celebrated every corner of the haulage industry. Watch the full awards show by clicking the link below.

Unsung Hero

This category wasn’t about size or facilities. It was about character. It recognises those whose impact is felt long after the shift ends, the people who quietly go above and beyond. This category was supported by the RHA and the nominations reviews in partnership with them, who acted as an independent adjudicator. Here are the finalists for Unsung Hero and why they were nominated:

Finalists

• Martyn Gallagher - Described as an outstanding driver trainer for DHL, who is constantly raising standards on site by training new drivers and developing their skills. His commitment and dedication to the driving industry are truly exceptional.

• Thomas Parkin - He has put countless hours into his role. He is a driver who goes above and beyond to help other drivers and always takes time to give food to the homeless he sees on the road. He’s been described as an amazing driver, father, and husband.

• Chantelle May & Michelle Flynn at Driver Hire Norwich - Described as the heartbeat of the office. Always there, 24 hours a day. Working tirelessly week in, week out. They truly care about the drivers they support.

• Mick Ford - Described as someone who worked tirelessly week in, week out during a very difficult period of change. He kept morale high, and everyone focused on the positives. He was a Managing Director who would happily jump on a forklift and just crack on without a second thought. He was one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet.

Winner

• Jason Leake - Described by many as a top bloke raising awareness for mental health. He is someone who helps remove the stigma by openly talking about real issues, making it easier for other men in this industry to do the same. He regularly gives up his spare time to help people with their mental health, replying to messages, offering support, and helping people feel less alone. His door is always open for anybody needing help and is a genuine and caring friend - offering support but also a laugh when it’s needed.

A huge congratulations to all the winners at the 2026 Haul of Fame Awards. We hope to see you in 2027 for the next one.
